Hello, thanks for stopping by! We are Matt and Laura Galenkamp, the brother and sister team behind LuLo Gardens. Keep reading to find out more about us and the farm.

The seed for LuLo Gardens was sown around 2020 when Laura first discovered flower farming on YouTube. She watched, read and learned as much as she could hoping it would be her future. A gardener for 20 years, she already had a love of plants and flowers, and with a business degree behind her she knew it was a perfect fit.

A few years later, in late 2023, Laura and Matt decided to be business partners and LuLo Gardens was born.  Laura quit her 25 year career as a production planner, moved 5 hours away from the area she had lived most of her life, and dug in.

Our small scale flower farm is located in Douglas, ON just minutes from the Bonnechere River in the beautiful Ottawa Valley.  It is tucked in to one corner of the 400 acre wooded sanctuary that’s been in Matt’s partner’s family for three generations. The 2 acres dedicated to growing flowers was formerly a cow pasture and we are working hard to fill it up with annuals, perennials and shrubs. It is  a remarkable place to go to work every day and we are committed to protecting its natural beauty. We exclusively use organic and regenerative practices on the farm because we want to leave the land in better shape than we found it.

People often wonder how we came up with the name. We considered a lot of different ideas, but struggled to settle on something. In the end, we decided on a mashup of Laura’s dogs’ names, Luna and Marlow, and they are the cutest mascots ever!

After 20 years in the service industry, Matt and his family felt the call of the wild. They moved up to the Ottawa Valley, started a homestead from scratch and learned about small scale farming. When Laura approached him with the flower farm idea, he thought it was great and wanted in. Matt’s farming experience combined with his hard-working nature are a great complement to Laura’s passion. (He also makes her laugh!)
